Railroad to Spruce Creek. '
In 1837, Charles DcIIass, civil engin
eer, surveyed a route fur a railroad from
Lewisburg to Hollidaysburg. The follow
ing items from his report may be of some
interest at the present time. lie divided
the route, into three divisions Eastern,
Centre and Western. Tbe Eastern divi
sion commenced at Lewisburg and termi
nated at the Ct litre county line. The
Centre division reached to the boundary
of Centre and Huntingdon counties ; and

SJThe meeting of the Directors of the
Susquehanna Railroad, at Harnsburg,
on Friday last, resulted in tbe almost nnan
imnus passage of a resolution to proceed
at once with tbe construction of the road
between Sunbury and Lewisburg ; and a
a public letting of this portion of the road
will be held in this borough on the 27th
inst. A committee was also appointed to
make arrangements for the continuance of
the road farther up stream. These move'

drowuin", of Col. Samuel Red eh, of Stc-
phensou county, Illinois, and formerly of
this valley. We understand be went to

a stream, missed the road, and he and
I his horses perished before help could reach
them. Col. R. formerly represented Uniou
county in the Pennsylvania legislature.
