as we listened to the " farewell hymn," it
woul 1 take many, many years of din and
turmoil in the busy world to efface from
the memory of the graduates the proud
recollec'.ions of that day. The town was
crowded with Mrangers all the week. In

t.There are cot only scoundrels in the
Cities who send illegal Lottery Schemes
to the people through the mails, but they
have agents through the country to drop
them into the mails from different places.
AU these schemes ate frauds; their dupes
are few ; &till there are some who allow
themseirta to be swiudled, secretly, by
'ie sharpers. The best way to serve the
curlatrs, is to cucloie their schemes, se
cured so close that they can not pry into
them, in cvelopes, and send theiu back.
Such precious documents tnus be worth 5
to 10 cents each when they alicays draw
tach mammoth prizes !
B.Those who have read the disgrace
ful proceedings which have marked the re
cent session of Congress, must have been
often struck with the thought that a more
efficient Speaker would be of great service
in preserving order. Hon. Tuumas II
Be.ntox has been spoken of for next
Speaker. We hope be may be elected ;
and believe it would tend greatly to work
a reformation in the character of that body.
