son. I. D. Rapp, Esq. the General Agent of
this responsible and well known Company,
visited this place last week; and made the
following appointments:
Local Agent, II. C. Hickok.
Medical Examiner, Wm. Lciscr, M. D.
Several policies have already been is

President Judge.
To tbi CiTixasa or Union a Mirruw
cucxtiis: Permit me us lo recommended to
vour friendly atlenuon,(isonos F. Mililb, Esq.,
'or the office of President Judge of this District,
Mifflin county now bas the Judgeship, and has
filled many Judgeships. Unioo couniy (altho
much the larger) has never been honored wilh a
Judgeship, and we are sure it w!U be conceded
to her provided she brings fo'ward a proper man
as candidate, toi. miner s aoiuuev auu imcgu-
.m nn.lnufcted and uniiuestioned. He has
never asked for or held any office of profit. He
im otf.made man. and knows the wants and
Wlimre of all classes of citizens. He is a pub
lie-spirited citizen and good neighbor, and just
...,-h man as Ule neopie ueiiiMii w uooui. no
well entitled to a share of official distinction
and will be found as faithful and vigilant a JcJge,
as he has been thus distinguished as an advo
cate. Sw. VOX rUrLLL
For the Lewisbnrc Chronicle.
Next State Senator.
Ma. Eoitob : It is generally if not universal
ly conceded that the office of Senator now be
long U Union county, as Mifflin has just had it,
and Juniata can not by any lair apportionment
claim it, so long as she a-is the Representative
and we feel willing to concede it Juniata gave
2304 votes for Governor, and Union gave 4410
for President more than two to one. Mifflin
and Union having the Senator alternately, and
Juniata having 'the Representative when Union
baa the Senator, would be equal and exact jus
lice as between Union and Juniata.
Several names have been recommended thro
the Longstown papers, for Senator, but none
which strikes me more favorably than that of
Mr. James Moore. Jr., of East Biiualoe lown
ahip. Mr. unlike the others named, has
never helJ any office of profit He has long been
known to the people of -Union county as an en
ierprising and useful citizen, and would as faith
fully and honorably represent us in Harrisburg,
as any other citizen. Although a firm and un
compromising Whig, he is not an ultra, unrea
avHieble or bittsr -politician. He is a through-going
"busioe-s men. and no one would be
better calculated ta attend to the interes.s of the
District, than Mr. M. I hope he may be taken
a. and au-.inedby.il.
Tor the Xewistrarg Chronicle.
Associate Judge.
To tbs rtorLE or Union cocbtt : Under
our new law, we no longer are to have men pla
ced over us by the will of one man acting under
the wishes of a clique or cliques who have his
sr. 'resident and Associate Judges are now
to be elected by us. It is therefore essential that
wecastaboatforthehestraen. 1 have heard
..nii.n1 far Associate Judne. and there-
sv... ,. ni.i friend and acouaintance of
JVIV H.H. M.v " " " .
more men than any other man in the couniy.
Neb Musoisswabtb, of Beaver township. His
qualifications mo one doubt: in tiuth, no man
M do better in that office, especially as he un
derstands both the English and German language
perfectly. I aay, then, no one could ait on the
ben:h with more eatielaciion to an classes i
pie than "Old Ner." BUFFALOE.
