this District belong to the Democrats -that

to I he fact that on S:ate Tickets merely,
they generally carry a majority. . Put

proof that it has always been on the Pro

When John Snyder was elected to Con

FaiTier and other old Democrats on that
iVsuc. But when it was found he took (he
Free Trade side of the question, they re
jected him, and elected Gen. Frick a Tar

Again, John SnydtT was run as a Free
Trader and defeated by James Pollock a
Tariff Whig.
Next. Gen. IVtriken, nn Anti-Tarjff
I'cmncrat, was run by the Democrats, and
tlnfraled by James Pollock, Tariff Whig;.
Next. Allison White, a pretended Tar
iff Democrat, was run by the Democrats,
but defeated by an unprecedented majority,
many of the Free Traders themselves go
ing against him. r
Next. Gen. Petrikcn, a Cass Democrat
and 46 Tarifl man, run by the Democrats,
a'jd defeated by Joseph Casey, a Tariff
Wlvg.
Here are FIVE different trials, in each
of which the Democratic party" was proved
o be in the minority on the Tariff issue!
In -1844 James . CucLanan and other
prominent Democrats declared James K.
I'olk was '42 Tariff man, and in that way
nly did they carry this District the peo
I fe voted Tariff.
When that Turiff win destroyed, the
ripple of this Distri'-t exhibited their feel
ings at the next election by the following
vote.

thing bus since occurred lo change the
opinions of the people. Our Coal interests,
our Iron interests, our Manufacturing in

of a Protective Tariff. The balance of
trade is against us England does not need
our wheat and all our California gold

should be made alhome, and would be

The Democratic party in Congress have

Administration and Congressmen to effect
even the smallest modification of llie ad va

" With these facts before u, unless the
People are deceived by llie honied profes

Kane, Buchanan, & Co. in 1644, this Dis

District, and whose election would be hai
