make it all that could be desired both as •
Literary Institution and as a Christian home
for those entrusted to its cars.
The College Ethfice and Grounds.—The location
of the Cotiege, on the Northern Central Rail
road. its miles from Baluniore, has been select
ed as one of the must desirable in the State.—
The grounds include tweety-one acres of excel
teat land. and us oramented with a beautiful
woodland of several acres, in the midst of which,
on an elevated and highly desirable site, is lo
cated the College edifice, four stories is height.
The building is coastmeted of brick, octagonal
in form, 200 feet in circumference, encircled by
wide and beautiful vernadaha—has ample se ,
consmodations for one hundred boarders, sad
presents a very striking sad imposing appear
ance. The location is highly salubrious and
picturesque, and conissuids a delightful view of
the surrounding country.
The internal arrange are complete, and

allartments are provided with registers for
ventilation, and the admission of warm air, in
the winter season, from large brick furnaces.—
The Gas arranrments are also complete. The
building throughout, is tarnished ins very neat
and attractive style, and the Principal is satis

pleased with the entire arrangements of the
College.
Objets end CU:meter of W Sekool.—liennt
Washington College affords to 14 pupils, ample
means and appliances, for thorough physi
cal and intellectual training, with all the
advantages and surroundings of a Christian
family.
Provision is made for physical education, in
the daily practice of calisthenic exercises, the
Tahiti of which has been seen, in the improved
health and fuller muscular development of the
pupils of the College. The verandahs and ex
tensive grounds, laid oat in beautiful walks,
furnish both the invitation and opportunity for
healthful recreation in the open air.
As regards intellectual culture, it is believed
that the coarse of study and methods of in
struetion, adopted at mount Washington, are,
to say the least, equal to those of the best
schools in the cottn. The studies In which
its pupils are eagitir, with the free oral teach
ings that accompany each recitation, and jbe
frequent deliiery of formal lectures on acM
tific or literary subjects, with choice readings
from the Classic poets and prose writer, of the
English language, combine most favorably, to
produce the best form of true womanly culti
vation.
In this connection, it is deemed proper to
mention, as one of the great advantages of the
Institution, and as materially affecting its
character and contributing greatly to the suc
cessful accomplishment of its objects, that it is
&relatively • Boorrdis, School, and that so pupils are
admitted, bet nut as are, is foil, inanhers of Me
Colter Fas& y.
A course has been established for resident
graduates, who may desire to prosecute their
btudies beyond the regular curriculum. Be
sides the study of the text books mentioned,
they will prosecute a systematic course of read
ing, and will bare the advantage of special
lectures.
The College is tarnished with complete ap
paratus for illustration in the departments of
Chemistry and Natural Philosophy; and the
public may rest assured that whatever may be
necestary, from tins* to time, to keep pace with
the progress of the age, will be brought into
the Bevies of the College.
ClirtNut fieserrotion.--The religious teachings
of the College contemplate a thorough and
harmonious acquaintance with the fundamental
facts and truths of Christianity,. u taught
clearly in the Scriptures, and which rise above
all mere sectarianism, to that higher ueity of
the Divine Life, in which " thane is neither Jew
nor Greek, for all are one in Christ,Jes4"
The entire character of the religious training
of the College is eminently Christina without
being sectarian--and while no pains 'slit be
spared to impart a practical knowledge the
Christian Religion, parents and, guardians may
rest assured, that no attempt will be made to
interfere with the particular denominational
relations of the pupils.
