DISGRAZIA FATALE.
A LUCERNE
Lunedi scorso rimaneva vittima
sotto una frana di carbone e pietra il
connazionale Giovanni Andreassi di
anni 24. Il poveretto lascia nel pro
fondo dolore sua moglie ed un figlio
letto risiedenti a Homer City.
Imponenti funerali ebbero luogo
in Indiana mercoledì scorso. La mar
cia funebre durante l'accompagna

PARTONO PER L'EUROPA
Sabato otto piroscafi lasciarono il
porto di New York con 13,475 pas
seggieri a bordo, numbero veramente
straordinario per questa stagione
dell'anno. Solo il "Caronia" ed il
"Mauritania" partirono con più di
3500 passeggieri. In tutti i posti
d'imbarco moltissimi passeggieri ri
masero a terra dopo di avere lunga
mente atteso ohe fosse cancellata la
partenza di qualche passeggiere per
sostituirlo.
Richieste di posto per l'Europa
giungono a tutte le compagnie di
Navigazione da tutti i punti degli
Stati Uniti e fino al 31 Agosto nessu
na Compagnia ha un posto disponi
bile sui transatlantici.
II Direttore di una Compagnia di
Navigazione diceva l'altro giorno che
se egli disponesse di una dozzina di
piroscafi della capacità del "Levezia"
potrebbe riempirli in meno di una
settimana.
Si crede che circa mezzo milione
di touristi e di uomini di affari sono
ansiosi di partire per l'Europa e ne :
