It is glasses, not drugs, that many
people need to overcome chronic head
aches. Your eyes may seem all right
and vison perfect, but if you have
headaches you have one of the defects
known as hypermetropia (or far sight)
or astigmatism. Remove the strain on
the nerves of the eye and your trouble
will leave.\ It has been proven that
Glasses will accomplish what medi
cine cannot do. Large lenses are bene

Remarkable Career of j
Who Will Sing In Pittsburgh May 5 j
ENRICO CARUSO, KING OF TENORS.
ENRICO CARUSO, the celebrated
tenor, who is booked for one
engagement only in Pitts
burgh to sing with the Cincin
nati Orchestra on Saturday evening.
May 5, at Shriners' Mosque, is a na
tive of Napies and was born in 1873.
When he was a mere boy he sang in
the churches of Naples, and the beauty
of his voice attracted the attention of
all who heard it. His father did not
encourage the boy at first, but a few
years later was persuaded to allow him
to take lessons in singing. Caruso
made his debut in 1894 in Naples in a
now forgotten opera, "L'Amico Fran
cesco," afterward singing in various
Italian cities and in Cairo. A South
American engagement followed, and
on his return, after a season in Milan,
!t was clear that he was one of the
most promising young tenors ever
heard in Italy. His performance of
the Duke at the Metropolitan in 1903
convinced American opera-goers that
the greatest of all tenors had arrived.
His success is the greatest ever attain
ed by an artist in this country. His
American engagements have been a
continuous ovation, the great audiences
being held spellbound by the exquisite
refinement, beauty and power of his
voice, and from coast to coast he has
been pronounced the greatest tenor
who has ever lived. His voice is a
pure tenor of exquisite quality and of
sufficient power to fill any opera house i
without losing any of its sweetness;'
his acting is faultless, his phrasing
excellent and his delivery fluent and
tasteful. Since he made his debut at
the Metropolitan Opera House over a
dozen years ago he has assumed lead
ing tenor roles in all the principal op
eras and is today the greatest drawing
caul before the American public. CHARLES J. MARGIOTTI
