filled. An entry fee of 25 cents is

on Philadelphia street; also a dia

Do not worry; eat three square
meals a day; say your prayers; be
courteous to your creditors; keep
your digestion good; exercise; go
•low and go easy. Maybe there
are other things that your special
case requires to make you happy,
but, my friend, these I reckon will
give you a good lift. —Abraham
Lincoln.

WORRY.
RIGHT LIVING.
Live right today and it will be a
•tep toward living right tomorrow.
No roan has any right to expect to
live differently tomorrow from the
way in wlrich he is living today.
What he chooses for today he chooses
for tomorrow. What he overcomes
today he is overcoming for tomor
row. Yet most of us live as though
we did not believe this, and we try
hard to persuade ourselves that we
are safe in so living.
Curious Laws In India.
Some of the old laws of Nepal, India,
were curious. Killing cows ranked with
murder as a capital offense, for in- !
stance. Every girl at birth was mar- |
ried with great ceremony to a betel j
fruit, which was then cast into asa- '
cred stream. As the fate of the fruit
was uncertain, the girl was supposed
never to become a widow. To obtain
divorce from a husband a wife had
only to place a betel nut under his pil- :
low and depart
In Nepal the day is considered to be
gin when it is light enough to count
the tiles on the roof or distinguish the
hairs on a man's hand against the sky.
—Exchange.
Good Advice.
Lord Kitchener's answer to tht |
young reporter who asked him for his
autograph is wholesome advice for all
autograph hunters, "Young man, go
and make your own autograph worth
having."—Youth's Companion.
A Demonstration.
"I distinctly saw you with a police
man's arms around you."
"Oh. yes. mum!- Wasn't it nice of
him? He was showin* me how to hold
a burglar if 1 found one in the house."
-Life.
A Doleful Mood.
The proprietor of a Paris cafe no
ticed that after he had refused to give
his pianist an increase of salary the
number of his customers dwindled
rapidly. It was only when all but
one diner had deserted him that he
discovered that the pianist had been
Inflicting Chopin's "Funeral March"
on the audience nightly. The pianist,
who was proceeded against in the law
courts and was fined 5 francs, pleaded
that he played according to the mood
he felt In after his request had been
refused.
Th Cutup.
"There goes the village cutup."
"Is he a joker or a surgeon ?"—Balti
more American.
Being Right.
You can't be sure you're right sim
ply because you believe you are.—Al
bany Journal.
Madison and the Constitution.
It is generally understood that James
Madison was the chief author of the
constitution of the United States. Be
yond a doubt the great instrument was
the joint product of the entire con
vention, but from the best accounts
Madison was the man who put it into
shape as we have it today.—New York
American.
Descriptive.
"Is she homely?"
"Well, I wouldn't say that exactly.
But after taking one look at her no one
would ever think of asking why she
had never married." Detroit Free
Press.
Overheard
"Tinker has placed an old railroad
sign. 'Stop, look and listen!' at the en
trance to his driveway."
"What's the idea?"
"His wife is running the touring
car."—Judge.
