ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT
Secret Santa will meet
“Saturday Night Live” tonight at
the Carnegie Cinema for a fun
kickoff to finals week.
Second Floor Stand-up, Penn
State’s student comedy organiza
tion, will perform a Chrismukkah
Show at 9 p.m. in 113 Carnegie
Cinema.
The show will be largely holi
day-themed, changing the pace of
the group’s usual comedy shows.
The focal point of the show will be
the Christmas tree, said Brandon
Scott Wolf, general manager and
creator of the group.
Each member of the group will
bring a wrapped “Secret Santa”
present to place under the tree.
Each comedian who goes onstage
to perform will then open a ran
dom present and do a bit of improv
comedy based on their gift.

This will be the group’s last
show of the semester, but it will
make sure it’s a good one, Wolf
(senior-journalism) said.
“The holiday shows always have
a little more spice,” Matt
Rainstein (senior-film and video)
said. “It will be the most fun show
we’ve ever done.”
Wolf said holiday shows bring an
audience together like nothing
else.
“The atmosphere will be decked
out in Christmas and Hanukkah
everything,” he said.
The night will feature a few
sketch comedy groups, in addition
to the traditional stand-up comics.
A group of students will take the
stage and perform an original skit
similar to those of “Saturday
Night Live” or College Humor
that will make for an entertaining
night, Wolf said.
“Sketch comedy is like a half
time show for comedians," Wolf

said. “It’s another chance to have
a creative outlet, and we’re having
a great time with it. We think the
audience will, too.”
The audience may receive a gift
or two as well, Wolf said.
“We always try to keep the audi
ence as involved as possible, so it
doesn’t feel like twe’re just talking
at the crowd,” said Ryan
Munshower, president of Second
Floor Stand-up. “It should be like
we’re having a conversation.”
No matter what, the show will
be a refreshing break for students
who are stressing about their
upcoming finals, Munshower (jun
ior-computer science) said.
The show is expected to last
about 90 minutes, and will bring a
mix of seasoned student comedi
ans as well as some new ones.
“Students should expect a good
little holiday party,” Munshower
said. “And they don’t have to wear
a weird sweater.”
