The Daily Collegian True freshman Alton dominating with pins By Mike Still COLLEGIAN STAFF WRITER All it takes is an instant. In just one instant, the match is over and Andrew Alton is standing in the center of the mat, his arm held high in victory by the referee. The true freshman is on a tear this season, sitting undefeated at 11-0 in his first year of collegiate action and making a living pinning his opponents. “He’s phenomenal, there’s no doubt about it,” redshirt freshman David Taylor said of Alton. “Him being able to pin people, as the season goes on it’s gonna make good guys wrestle him a lot differ ent.” In his 11 matches this season, Alton is leading the Nittany Lions with nine pins. His fastest pin of the year came in just 21 seconds. This past Sunday at the Nittany Lion Open, Alton put his pinning ability on display before the more than 400 wrestlers in attendance at Rec Hall. His only scare came in the third round before the quarterfinals, a 7-5 decision over North Carolina's Danny Lopes. “I like to stay calm and relaxed Alton said. “I try not to get too built up to wrestle, too warmed up and then go out there and lose all my ener gy.
