Cook delights crowd with favorites

The Bryce .Jordan ('enter was
filled on Wednesday night with
Dane Cook fans of all ages.
One of the fans that packed the
BJC was Shana I)a\ies (junior
broadcast journalismiwho had
just won a contest that Cook was
having on his Twitter hours before
the show.
"He wanted people to send in
pictures of themselves with their
tickets." Davies said "I thought

Yonder Mountain plays original sound

The mood of the Yonder
Mountain String Band concert
was set from the very beginning.
Yonder Mountain String Band
played to a full house last night at
the State Theatre, 130 W College
Ave., bringing their mix of blue
grass and jam music to State
College.
“We re feeling energized and
ready to go," Jeff Austin, mandolin
player for the band, said.
Most of the crowd agreed with
the band.

Davies said that while she and a
friend were out at dinner before
the show, she received an e-mail
on her phone saving that she was
the winner of the meet and greet
with Cook after the performance.
Davies and her friend said they
couldn't stop shaking in anticipa
tion for their introductions with

The three finalists vying to be
the new hockey arena's architect
will make presentations to the
Board of Trustees Architectural
Selection Committee this morn
ing, with a final selection expect
ed for Friday.
Office of the Physical Plant
spokesman Paul Ruskin said the
three presentations will be held
today from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The prospective candidates,
whose names Ruskin said he
sitting in the whole venue, with
audience members standing to
clap, dance and sway along to the
music.
In case anyone in the audience
couldn’t see over the person
standing in front of them, Austin
offered the crowd a description of
the band: "We all have capes on
with a huge A on the back for awe
some," Austin said.
Fan Jack Ressel reiterated
what Austin said.
“In the serious form of the word,
they are awesome," Ressel (soph
omore-art education) said.
Jake Precone (junior-wildlife
and fishery science) said that he

Samantha Berkihiser (junior
nursing) said that she also loves
Cook and has been a fan for so
long she can't even remember.
"He's awesome," Berkihiser
said. "We love him." she said,
pointing to herself and her friend.

haw experience building hockey
arenas.
When the committee looks for
architects. Ruskin said they need
professionals to supply quality
designs and construction plans to
meet the university's standards.
"Whenever we build a new
building at Penn State, we want
them to be long-term buildings."

Ghormoz, Tuesday was "a tough
night to swallow."
In this year's midterm elec
tions. Republicans picked up the
largest congressional gain of
either party since 1040 - taking
control of the House of
Representatives and narrowing
the Democratic advantage in
the Senate.
Ghormoz < senior-political sci
ence) said the results were defi
nitely a disappointment for him
and other Democrats.
But even factoring in the
party's large-scale losses, it
could have been much worse for
