PENN Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Award The Ralph Dorn Hazel Memorial Award, named for Penn State's tenth president (1926-1947), recognizes a combination of high scholastic attainment together with good citizenship, and participation and lead ership in student activities. Walker Award is presented annually to the student who has contributed most to enhancing the reputation of the University through extracurricular activities. Walker was president of tie University from 1956 to 1970. Kelly A. Mazzante The John W. Oswald Award The John W. Oswald Award, established in 1983, annually recognizes graduating seniors who have provided outstanding leadership in at least one of several areas of activity at the University. Its purpose is to honor distin guished teaching and to provide encouragement and incentive for teaching excellence at the University. A permanent plaque listing the Th McKay Donkin Award The McKay Donkin Award was established in 1969 in honor of the late McKay Donkin, who served as vice president for finance and treasurer of the University from 1957 to 1968. The award is presented to the full time member of the faculty or staff or to the retiree who has contributed most to the "economic, physical, mental, or social welfare of the faculty" of the University. The contribution of the nominee should be for duties or ser vices that are above and beyond his or her regularly assigned duties. John W. McCoy Memorial Award The Ernest B. McCoy Memorial Award annually recognizes a senior man and woman who have combined successful athletic participation with academic excellence. The award is named for Ernest B. McCoy, who was dean of Penn State's College of Physical Education from 1952 to 1970. He was also the University's athletic director. Joanna Lohman Jerker Taudien The Outstanding Adult Student Award— Penn State University Park Campus This award recognizes an undergraduate student at the University Park campus who has begun or resumed study after age 21 and who demon strates initiative, tenacity, and flexibility in overcoming obstacles to furthering his or her education; who serves as a role model for other adult students by sensitizing the institution to the needs of adult stu dents and by becoming established as a leader in the peer group; who achieves academic excellence; and whose goals reflect the values and ideals of higher education. Matthew Jennings The Graduate Student Service Award The Graduate Student Service Award, established in 1991, recognizes a graduate student who has best combined high academic achievement with leadership in University or other public activities.
