Ohio State By CHRIS MASSE Collegian Staff Writer For the last three months, Ohio State has ruled the college football world. Back in August, the Buckeyes were anointed the No. 1 team in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls. Since then, they have met all chal lengers and run through their first seven games unscathed. Suddenly, though, Ohio State’s No. 1 rankings have taken on hol low significance. Monday, the first-ever Bowl Championship Series standings were unveiled. The BCS uses polls, computer ratings, strength-of-schedule and win-loss records, and it will deter mine which two teams will go to the Fiesta Bowl Jan. 4 to play for the national championship. The surprise was that UCLA, not Ohio State, was the No. 1 team.
