    Additional allegations
made against James
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) More
assault allegations have surfaced
against Minnesota sophomore for
ward Courtney James.
James was accused of domestic
assault in April after his girlfriend
reported that he hit her with a tele
phone book.
New documents filed in the case,
scheduled to go to trial Monday,
allege that James assaulted the
woman a month earlier and that
authorities have photographs of
bruises on the woman’s leg.
After the woman filed the police
report in April, James threatened
and harassed her in telephone mes
sages, the documents say.
James has been charged only in
the April incident and has pleaded
innocent.
Assistant City Attorney Julie
Helling would not comment on the
new allegations, saying it is not
clear if they will be admissible in
court.
James’ attorney, Jerry Strauss,
said introducing the previous inci
dent is “foul play.”
“This violates fundamental fair
ness,” Strauss said. “All it’s going
to do is fuel my desire to win this
case.”
