for attending and making the April 18, 1986,
reunion weekend a successful kickoff of the 100th
year of student publications at Penn State.
You should remind any Collegianaires you know about
the 100th anniversary plans and send us names or names
and addi•esses of people you think would be interested in

William P. McDowell wrote, "We had a semi-weekly
when I was there and my main job my senior year was to
write a column, The Campuseer, once a week. I was listed
as news editor.
"The other column, Old Mania, was written by the late
Don Sanders, who wound up working for many years for
The Associated Press in Washington, D.C. His widow, Jo,
lives in Fort Myers, Fla.
"I was in journalism for 22 years, mostly with the
Herald of Sharon, Pa. Then came public relations for
columbia Gas in Pittsburgh for 14 years. I taught journa
lism at two colleges in Pittsburgh before moving to
Florida seven years ago.
"Collegian people I've been in contact with in recent
years include Obie Oberholtzer, Harry Henderson, Vance
Packard and Fran Turner Shaffer, all of the class of 1936;
Phil Heisler of 1937 and Jim Beattie and John Brutzman,
both of 1935."
David R. Jones, national editor at The New York
Times, wrote, "As you may know, I was Collegian editor
in 1954. But you may not be aware that my wife the
former Mary Lee Lauffer was a 1955 journalism
graduate who was managing editor of the Collegian that
year.
"So our involvement with Collegian has been deep, and
we truly wish we could be there. Perhaps you can extend
our regrets to our fellow Collegian staffers."
