The film makes its campus debut this weekend. 7 and 9 p.m. tomorrow and Monday, 112 Kern. "Watership Down" Based on Richard Adams' acclaimed novel of the same name, this 1978 animated film was highly touted for its combining of traditional and modern cartooning techniques, and made several best-film lists. 7, 8:45 and 10:30 tonight and tomorrow; 7 and 8:45 p.m. Sunday, 119 Osmond. "Psycho" Hitchcock's most commercially successful film has been accused of being everything from cinematic mastery to unguarded woman hatred, but it still gives you chills and thrills after all these years. One of the blackest comedies ever, it made Anthony Perkins a star and made the viewer just that much more apprehensive' about taking a shower. A classic. 7 and 9 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, HUB Assembly Room. "The In• Laws" Peter Falk and Alan Arkin are superb in this erratic, but pleasantly flaky 1979 comedy about a wedding engagement in Connecticut that snowballs into a South American coup. Richard Libertine is splendidly nutty as a deranged banana republic Premier. 7, 9 and 11 tonight and tomorrow; 7 and 9 p.m. Sunday, 108 Forum. "Deliverance" Some good ole' boys go where they've never gone before in John Boorman's prophetic, scary parable, based on the novel by James Dickey. Strong stuff, even 12 years later. Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight, Ned Beatty, Ronny Cox. 7, 9 and 11 tonight and tomorrow; 7 and 9 p.m. Sunday, 105 Forum. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" A splendidly nasty, messy sendup of King Arthur that's become a B-movie classic, The Pythons, are at their yeoman-like, merciless best in this 1975 yuk-fest. Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle. 7:30 and 9 tonight and Sunday, 112 Kern. 11 tonight; VSO, 9 and 10:30 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, 101 Chambers. "Jesus Christ Superstar" Ted Neeley, who's too often confused for one of the Doobie Brothers, is a screaming travesty in director Norman Jewison's well intentioned but feverishly somber meditation on the suffering of Christ. Lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber ("Evita") have become classic, though. 7 and 9 tonight, 101 Chambers; 8 p.m. tomorrow, 112 Chambers. Admission is free. "Coming Home" Hal Ashby's thesis on Vietnam anguish and suburban paralysis is chock full of atmosphere and humid with emotional turbulence, but it can't quite compensate for the trite attitude and transitional lapses that pervade the story. Oscar winners Jon Voight and Jane Fonda are very good here, but their characters as written are so grim and wordless they become tiring. But Bruce Dern is scary perfection as Fonda's edgy, gung-ho Marine husband. 7 and 9:15 tonight; 10 p.m. tomorrow, 112 Chambers. Admission is free. "An American in Paris" Eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture 1951, went to Vincente Minnelli's sumptuous mix of classical dance, modern art, the music of Gershwin and the earthbound brilliance of choreographer-star (and University alumnus) Gene Kelly. It's also a magical entertainment. Presented by Cinematheque as part of the "Golden Age of the Musical" series. 7 and 9 tonight, HUB Assembly. Room. "A Funny Thing Happeped on the Way to the Foruffi" Actually, a lot of funny things happen in this whopping good satire of Roman moores that's just one belly laugh after another. Zero Mostel, Jack Gilford and Buster Keaton are all infecluously funny, Richard Lester's direction is amiably zany, and Ken Thorne's Oscar winning score is a delight. Based on the hit musical of•the same name. 7, 8:45 and 10:30 tonight and tomorrow; 7 and 8:45 p.m. Sunday, 117 Osmond. Downtown "Splash" Nice dull guy (Tom Hanks) and statuesque mermaid (Daryl Hannah) have a yen for each other in director Ron Howard's inocuous romantic comedy, made with the best intentions in mind and featuring a priceless comic performance from John Candy as a guy who would put Obnoxio the clown to shame. 7:45 and 9:45 nightly; 1:45,3:45, 5:45, 7:45 and 9:45, Cinemas I and 11. "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" Wishful thinking. Jason strikes again. Empty the wallet. 7:30 and 9:45 nightly; 2:30, 5, 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, Cinemas I and 11. Harris) is overseas in this World War II comedy, directed by Jonathan Nr 4 -44/4" Demme, who gave us 1980's classic Oscar-winning "Melvin and Howard." 8 and 10 nightly; 2,4, 6, 8 and 10 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, Flick. "Moscow on the Hudson" Robin Williams' portrayal of a Russian defector in New York City is a revelation in Paul Mazursky's corny-but•amusing paean to America as a bristling ethnic mosaic. Film occasionally 'lacks the comic subtleties of Mazursky's beSt films, but has an infectious quality to it. 7:30 and 9:45 nightly: 2:15, 4:30, 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, Moviet. "Police Academy" Even if critics are lambasting this film left and right, it's turning out to be the runaway boxoffice hit of the spring. Steve Guttenberg and Kim Cattrall head a mostly unknown cast in this farce. 8 and 10 nightly; 2,4, 6, 8 and 10 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, Garden "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes" From the man who directed "Chariots of Fire" comes thin reportedly faithful filmization of the REAL cat on the vines. Sir Ralph Richardson stars. 7:30 and 9:45 nightly; 2:15, 4:30, 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, State. "Romancing the Stone" Robert Zemeckis' sendup of the action-adventure genre is so oblique and slick for its first hour (at least) that it leaves you chilled. It's only when Kathleen Turner gets out in the middle of the South American jungle with Michael Douglas and blood starts spilling that the satire acquires its edge. Not the best of its kind; not the worst either. 8 and 10 nightly; 2,4, .8, 8 and 10 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday, State. - "Footloose" Oh, great! Kevin Bacon is the dancin' man who's come to set that cornball midwestern town on its ear, but whoa! John Lithgow is an anti rock preacher who needs a talkin'-to!
