Lady tracksters head for Princeton meet
Head Coach Gary Schwartz expects
a good season from the women's
track team. But right now his biggest
concern is getting the team in proper
physical condition
He'll get his chance to evaluate and
determine just how much condition
ing they need tommorrow, when the
Lady Lions encounter their first big
meet Of the new year in the,Princeton
Quadrangular at Princeton Universi
ty.
"It's early in the season and with
the back-to-back breaks some of the
kids are not in the greatest shape,"
said Schwartz. "We'll be getting
some people into the meet and see
what condition they're in."
Schwartz added that some of his
runners who practiced over
Christmas break have experienced
some soreness and must readjust to
indoor conditions.

"Our performances will be a little

Schwartz, whose teams have gar
nered the Eastern indoor
championships the past two seasons,
will take 26 girls to Princeton, most of
whom are underclassmen.
"We are a predominately under
classmen-oriented team but I believe
in taking the best people," he said.
However, Schwartz is quick to point
out the need for strong leadership, a
role that co-captains Teri Pioli and
Vivian Riddick seem to fit.
Although the meet may not possess
the caliber teams one would encoun
ter in an Eastern or NCAA
Championship meet, Schwartz said
