24—The Daily Collegian Friday, Dec. 1 Railroaders recreate life in miniature Model trains aren't kid stuff. Just ask a member of the Penn State Modeling Club. "We aren't working with toys; we're recreating life in miniature," club president Jim Blair said. Some of that miniature life will be on display on the HUB ground floor this weekend. The public will have a chance to see the club's 15- by 25-foot train layout, nicknamed, "The Route of the Nittany Lion," in a pre- Christmas open house. The open house will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sun day. The layout depicts a typical central Pennsylvania countryside. Although it is the same layout used in last year's display, buildings and scenery have been added, Blair said. Building and designing such scenes are reasons why some students get involved in model railroading, he said. —by Maria Nicolo *- Wednesday & Saturday Night The Rathskeller prbsents Pat McGinnis.
