The Lady Lions, ranked No. 1 in the
country, breezed past Lincoln University
Saturday at Lincoln. Diane Novinger
helped pace Penn State to a 11-7 win by
rolling the day’s high series of 565. Donna
Pedro chipped in with the team’s highest
single game, a 214. The Lady Lions, now
5-0, beat Lincoln 2,739-2,537 in total pins.
Lincoln also fell in the men’s match, 15-
4. The Nittany Lions were led by Dan
Pavlik, who rolled a 247 single game and
a 675 three-game series. Penn State won
by 305 pins, 2,789-2,485.

The men’s team traveled to Villanova
the next day and handily defeated the
Wildcats, 12%-6%. Jay Jacobson cap
tured both high game and high series for
the Lions. Jacobson posted a 265 single
game (his best this season) and a 665
series. Pavlik added a 632 series. The
Lions, now 8-2, beat Villanova 3,042-2,897
in total pins.

Krents wins marathon
Robert Krents of Pitt-Johnstown was
the winner of the 10th annual Nittany
Valley TC marathon held Saturday
morning, with a time of 2 hours, 38
minutes, and 31 seconds. Norman Paten
aude of the Sudbury TC in Ontario was
second (2:39:18) and Steve Miller of the
sports briefs
York Road Runners finished third
(2:41:36) in the 117 person field.

terbacks and a fullback from the Nation
al Football Conference apd two

ceivers are the finalists for the 1981
National Football League Mah of the
Year award. :
The finalists are quarterbacks Ron
Jaworski of the Philadelphia Eagles and
Archie Manning of the New Orleans
Saints; wide receivers Lynn Swann of the
Pittsburgh Steelers and Jerry Butler of
the Buffalo Bills; and fullback William
Andrews of the Atlanta Falcons'.
