dominated every aspect of the game in
coasting to victory. And with the eight
team Lady Lion Invitational coming up
today and tomorrow at Rec Hall, Rose is
not certain such dominance was
desirable.
Lady keglers meet Maryland in opener
Improving upon last year's' third-place finish at nationals
won't be easy, but women's bowling coach Don Ferrell said he
thinks his team can do it.
The Lady Lions get their first chance to prove Ferrell right
when they face Maryland tomorrow afternoon at Rec Hall in
their season opener. They remain at home to meet Gettysburg
Sunday afternoon
Last year, the team's record was 17-1, and the Lady Lions
were ranked third in the nation. Five bowlers return from last
year's squad, while the remaining five squad members are
freshmen.
"I think we're as good as or better than the year we won the
nationals (1978-79)," Ferrell said."We have depth, we have ex
perience, and we have ability. Above all, we have good
leadership "
Ferrell said this year as a "growing and maturing year" for
the Lady Lions.
Veteran men's bowling team hosts pair
The men' Open's its kegiiiretailistlVlaiyland
tomorrow afternoon at Rec flall and Lion coach Don Ferrell
can't help but gush over his team's potential.
Five bowlers return from last year's squad, which went 19-4
and was ranked 11th in the country. Three freshmen and two
additional newcomers are expected to give depth to the squad.
"In the five years I've been coaching here, this team has as
much or more potential as the team that took third in the Na
tionals two years ago," said Ferrell.

"They have been to the top every year,"Ferrell said. "Our
main concern is putting the group together. With this group,
we can compete on a national scale for the next four years."
Team captain Liz Baude expressed optimism about the
season, and said she believes the Lady Lions have a solid
team.
"I think it's a better team and a younger team," said Baude,
"I'm looking forward to starting the year off big."
Sophomore Audrey Hichar expressed similar views,. but also
pointed out that consistency will be a. key factor this year.
"We have to be consistent as a team," Hicher said. "If we're
consistent, I'm sure we'll do well. Overall, our team is going to
be stronger than last year's team."
Other Lady Lions expected to compete include juniors April
Long and Michele Citro, sophomores Jill Cowdright, and
freshmen Jeri Edwards, Karen Ellingsworth, Diane Novinger,
