The Bruins then got an insurance goal
as Gregg Sheppard scored at 16:39 on a
short backhanded flip. Park helped set
up the goal for his third assist of the
game.
The Bruins jumped to a 2-0 lead as
Bobby Schmautz scored unassisted on a
power play and Middleton followed with
a goal just- 54 seconds later.
Wayne Cashman hiked the score to 3-0
with a power play goal in a game just
12:31 old.
The Flyers' Orest Kindrachuk got
Philadelphia on the board with a goal
while Boston was shorthanded at 17:48,
but John Ratelle made it 4-1 on a pass
from Middleton at 19:51.. Schmautz
scored his second goal early in the
second period before the Flyers came

Organizers, of the 1978 Ocean' State
Marathon in . Newport, R. 1.; have
decided to limit the 26-mile event to 1,600
runners this Oct. 29.
"If you get 3,000 people running and
6,000 pedple watching,, you might have
problems, especially if someone' got
hurt," said Bobby. Doyle, -two-time
Ocean State champion. "Newport can't
handle it. It's todcongested." '
'' Last .year there were about 1,100
starters and 950 finishers. For October's
race, the • committee has already
received 246 entries.
