Theismann took the snap from center Len Hauss
and completed a 13-yard pass to Calvin Hill for what
would have been the tying touchdown. The Redskins
lost• 10-3.
Allen said, after looking at the films of the game,
"When the gun went off and the smoke was in the
air, Joe had the ball in his hands. The play should
have been allowed."

said he "Saw nothing wrong."
Two seconds showed on the stadium clock when
officials momentarily called time to allow
Baltimore players to come downfield and reach the
line of scrimmage. The clock then was restarted,
and officals ruled that time expired before the ball
was snapped.

Allen said he wanted to make it clear that he was
not complaining about the lois because "I don't
want to take anything away from the Colts. I'm just .
stating the facts." Allen said that the Redskins, now
with a 4-4 record, have nothing to be ashamed of
about the way they played against the Colts.
"I thought the team played hard, showed
character. and I'm proud of the way they stayed in
until the final play," he said. "We have to forget
about the Colts. We have to get ready for the Eagles
because they are always tough in Philadelphia."
