'Money' campaign set By TERRY MELLOR Daily Collegian Staff Writer A fake money campaign will be held statewide during the week of Nov. 13-19 at state colleges to dramatize the financial impact university and college students have on local communities. The "Campus Cash" campaign consists of students and faculty members passing a "Campus Cash Dollar" to local merchants along with the actual payment for any purchase made off-campus. The Pennsylvania campuses that will participate in this campaign are Indiana University and the state colleges at Bloomsburg, California, Cheney, Clarion, East Stroud sburg, Edinboro, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester. .1 The program is sponsored by the Commonwealth Association of Students (CAS) and the Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Faculties. The teacher's association will provide the funds to print the half-million dollars' worth of fake money, CAS associate director Michael Sommers said. Program leaders hope that area merchants will fight for increased state college and university appropriations after the Campus Cash program is over. "We need to show the college towns how much they depend on our state colleges and universities," Sommers said. Occurred between campus labs Exposure incident reported Sat. This is necessary, Sommers said, to let the merchant know exactly how much money at the week's end is spent by the campus community in local business. "The impact of the Campus Cash campaign will be lessened if people forget to write the total on the back of the bill," Sommers said. Local CAS committee members are meeting now with representatives of the teachers association on the cam • pluses to determine the best ways to distribute and publicize the Campus Cash campaign so as many students and faculty as possible will participate, he said.
