NEW YORK (AP) Alex
Grammas, manager of the
Milwaukee Brewers, the last
place 1976 Brewers,. the 66-95
and 32-games-out Brewers,
was advised that - a noted
baseball writer had picked his
team to win the American
League East in 1977.
"Has lie ever been wrong?"
Grammas asked with a laugh.
Then he grew . se'rious,
turning his attention' to the
statement by, Dick Young in
the New York Daily News this
week that "this is the year a
young club, a hungry club,
can steal a pennant from a
rich club, a fat-cat club."
"I don't know about
Young," Grammas said, "but

Volleyballers defend crown at George Mason

Coming off an impressive
drubbing over East Strouds
burg Wednesday night in
Rec Hall, Penn State's
volleyballers will travel
tomorrow to the scene 'of two
other Lion triumphs.
The Nittany spikers will
invade Fairfax, Va., as two
time defending champions in
the third-annual George
Mason Invitational Tour
nament.
"We really like going down
there every year," said Lion
coach Tom Tait. "Not only
because we've won it
everytime, but because it
gives us a chance to see the
sun."
And while a trip to sunnier
climes wouldn't do the spikers
any harm, Tait has an ulterior
motive for treking southward
that just might do the Lions
some good.
