WASHINGTON (UPI) --
State Department officials,
while pleased that the Viet
namese have supplied any
information about Americans
listed as missing, describe the
• handing over of only 12 names
•i as a "cynical act designed for
political purposes."
An analysis of the list of 12
names leads the officials to
conclude that the Vietnamese
have had this information,
and were witholding it, for at
, i least 10 years. State
'Department officials believe
that the motive for releasing
the dozen names now is
directly linked to the forth
coming application of
Vietnam for membership in
the United Nations.
U.S. officials have in
dicated that the United States
will veto the U.N. application
until there is a full accounting
of the Americans missing in
action.
About 2,500 Americans are
missing. President Ford said

Rep. Paul McCloskey, R-

have information about some
250 to 300 Americans. State

some bits of information on as
many as one-quarter of that
number.
In any case, none of the U.S.

According to Owen Heney,
manager of the Penn State

because all of the stores sell

occur when leftover texts

French jet blown up
AJACCIO, Corsica (UPI) Armed Corsican
nationalists yesterday took over the Ajaccio airfield,
blocked the runways with trucks and then destroyed with
a plastic charge an Air France Boeing 707 jetliner.
The nationalists, some of. them armed with rifles and
pistols, forced the jetliner crew at pistol point to leave the
plane before setting it afire with a powerful plastic bomb,
police said. .
The airport had been closed to all traffic when about 15
trucks drove onto the runways and surrounded the Boeing
707. One hundred and eighty passengers, preparing to
board the plane for a flight to Paris remained in the
airport building.
The Air France jetliner was one of three planes stalled
on the runways by trucks of the Strade Corsa nationalist
truck drivers organization.
Five armed men ordered the pilot to taxi the plane to
the end of the runway, ordered the crew out of the plane
and set it ablaze at 10:45 p.m. (4:45 p.m. EDT), police
said.
