University prospects to get help

The office of Student Affairs is
developing a new formal program
designed .to provide information about
educational opportunities at the
University and to help recruit
prospective students.
The program, approved Friday by the
University Board of Trustees, will be
developed by a Coordinating Office of
Secondary School ..Relations and will
report to Raymond O. Murphy, vice
president for student affairs.
Murphy said the office will try to
strengthen contacts with prospective
students, high schools, parents and
guidance counselors and provide them
with up-to-date information about
University programs, policies and
admissions processes.’
As a possibility for improving service,
he said having alumni and present

students and counselors through

Murphy said.
One method for receiving detailed
information about University programs
is through the Listening-Learning
Services in 13 Pinchot. Murphy said the
center contains’ tapes on 42 of the 121
available majors and programs. He said
the tapes give detailed information
about each program, its requirements
and employment trends.
This service now is available only at
the University Park campus, but soon
will be available at the Commonwealth
campuses, Murphy said.
