Now's Your Chance
To Look Us Over
In the early hours of the evening. preparations for the
next morning's edition of The Daily Collegian begin in
earnest. Actually people on the business staff have been
working since the morning, taking bundles of papers to°
various distribution points on campus and in town, selling
and designing ads and keeping our books in order. 4
But the evening belongs to the editorial staff and by
7; p.m, the city
,room is beginning to fill with reporterd
*riling the stories you'll read in;-the morning. The tele
type provides steady background nbise as it raps out
state, national and international news compiled by the
Associated Press.
Phones are ringing, editors are yelling. Last minute
pictures are being developed and the scanograver 'emits
an eery whine as it prepares the pictures fOr printing.
EVeryone" is working feverishly to meet the 11 p.m. dead
line when all copy must be at the Centre Daily Times
shop where our printing is done.
We're usually, too rushed to do little more with visi
tors thdri ignore them. But tonight will be 'different. From
6:30 until 9 , (we have to get in a few hours of uninter,
rtipted work) we'll slow down and be glad to show you
all there is to see of our basement office in the north
wing of Sackett.
Now it will be your turn to ask us questions and all
the Collegian personnel from both the business and edi
tdrial staffs will be here to answer them. We're also serv
ing refreshments.
For those of you interested in working with us, noW's
your chance to see where you'll be working and with
whom you'll be working. Tomorrow,'is the first session
of editorial candidate school at 7 p.m. in 124 Sackett.
Business candidate school opens Wednesday Oct. 11 at
p.m., 124 Sackett.
But come see us tonight.
