the second half blues against
Colgate and rallyingto top the

victory hungry Colgate. The Red

Optimism is a quality that one
rarely finds in a coach, especially
prior to meeting a strong foe. Yet
when asked how he thought his
riflemen would do against the
Cadets of West Point, Sgt. Joe
Watson of Penn State said,"We're
all Set. We stand - a good chance
of winning."
There could be a couple of rea
sons for the Lion mentor's opti
mism prior to facing a strong
Army team this afternoon.
Watson is taking with him ten
shooters who are all capable of
firing scores _of 285 or better.
These sharpshooters are team
captain Rich Gogolkiewicz, Bill
Shaffer, Neil Anderson, Den
Brumbach, Les Parmele, Dick
Taylor, Chuck Nagel, Warren
Grossman, Walt Estep, and Walt
Morrow.
The optimism could also be due
to the fact that during practice
this week the Lions have recorded
scores as high as 1439. According
to Watson a score of 1430 should
be good enough to win.
The Lion coach considers - to
day's meet one of the big three
of the season, with the others
against Navy, Feb. 2, and West
Virginia, Feb. 15.
Both teams enter the meet with
a winning season thus far. The
Black Knights of the Hudson are
2-1. Their only loss was against
1960 national champion, West Vir
ginia, 1434-1433. The Lions are
currently boasting a 3-0 log. Their
victories came at the expense of
Pittsburgh, Lehigh, and Duquesne.
