"OFFICIALS are recognizing that recreation is becoming im portant and they want to make sure that slums and honky-tonks do not spring up at the entrances and exits to the shortway," he said. As a long-range planner, he handled economic studies involved with providing better telephone service. On one such project, Tom planned the introduction of a new type of telephone with pushbuttons instead of a dial.
