36 Selected for 'Who's Who'
Thirty-six seniors have been
selected for "Who's Who among
Students in American Universities
arta Colleges" by the administra
tive coordinating committee.
In announcing the names, Un
dergraduate Student Government
President Dean Wharton said the
committee used the La Vie per
sonality list in addition to names
suggested by the committee.
THE SENIORS were then cho
sen on the basis of the commit
tee's judgment of their contribu
tions to the University, Wharton
The committee selected the fol

IFC Wins 1962 National Award
As Tops Among Large Colleges
The Interfraternity Council
was recently named the 1962 win
ner of the National Interfraternity
Conference award
,for the out
standing fraternity systErn among
large universities.
The award was won in compe
tition with universities and col
leges in the United States and
Canada having 30 or more fra
ternities.
No runner-up was named in
the Penn State class.
A spokesman for the commit
tee, evaluating the University
Interfraternity Council system,
said that "no other university in
the class merited a runner-up
status to Penn State."
The Council was cited for as
suming increased responsibility in
campus activities, for its frater-

nity publications, for growth in
fraternity membership, and for
its' service to the University and
community.
Fraternity membership at the
University increased during the
last year to an all-time high of
2,850 members in 54 fraternities.
The Council's booklet to par
entS, "Fraternities and Your Son
at Penn State," its' pre-college
orientation program for new stu
dents and their parents and rush
ing counseling, were cited as out
standing examples of public re
lations work.
