University Suspends

Two Ist term students were sus
pended from the University by
the Senat - rSubcomrnittee - on Dis
cipline, Daniel R. Leasure, assist
tant dean of men, sold yesterday.
A 'freshman in liberal arts was
suspended until the end of. the
Spring term 1963 for drinking as
a minor and disorderly and dis
respectful behavior, Lkasure said.
THE STUDENT 'in an obvious
ly intoxicated condition" started
an argument and threatened to
'fight with another student at the
North HalLs record hop Saturday
night, Leasure said.
A counselor called to the scene
escorted file intoxicated student
to 4,he coordinator's difice, but the
'student was "clamoring and rant
ing" and so uncooperative that
the Campus Patrol was called,
Leasure said.
The student had refused to
-identify himself in the coordina
tor's office and continued to do so
throughout the night which he
spent in a special room in the
Ritenour health center, which is
reserved for "temporarily emo
tionally 'upset" -people,. Leasure
said.
k campus patrolman was with
the student during the night; and
at 9 the next morning the student
had calmed down considerably
and identified himself, Leasure
added. .
The student's case was heard
by the student tribunal in his area
which recommended that he be

was approved by the discipline
subcommittee.
The other freshman, who was
suspended until the end of this
term. had shoplifted a 39 cent item
from Woolworth's in State College
Monday. Leasure said.
HE SAID that the student was
caught by the manager, of the
store. _
At the office of a local justice
of the peace the student pleaded
guilty_to the charges of,.shoplift
ing and paid a fine 7,f - $lO and
court costs of $11.50. The case
was then turned over to the Uni
versity for action
In a third case, handled by the
Cool Air Expected
Cooler - and drier air spread'
over the northeastern states last
evening. Weather conditions more
typical. of -autumn shtiuld replace
the summer-like temperatitires of
recent days.
Partly cloudy skies and cool
temperatures are forecast for
State .;college today. Afternoon
readings should be in the lower
60's.
Cooler weather is expected
locally
.tonight, with a low tem
perature of 46 degrees.
Increasing and 'thickening
cloudiness is indicated for tomor
row as a storm moves toward
Pennsylvania from the mid-west.
Showers may begin late in the
day or early evening. A high of
63 is expected tomorrow.
