Robinson Talks to DeWitt;
Says 'Maybe' on Retirement
CINCINNATI i/P) Cincinnati Reds' outfielder Frank
Robinson's statement that he is retiring from baseball became
a maybe yesterday.
Robinson, who had his finest season during the past cam
paign, said Saturday he was quitting the game because of the
"'physical beating I've been taking
in baseball."
.The 27-year-old outfielder con
ferred yesterday with Redleg Presi•
dent William O. DeWitt for about
a half hour and DeWitt then is
sued the statement saying:
"Frank told me he has given
the matter further consideration
now•and says there is a possibili
ty he will play next year."
DeWitt said Robinson com
plained "he was - tired and was
under a lot of tension during the
pennant race. Every time at bat
it seemed .to be very imiiortant."
