New campus construction, both in planning and _building stages, :is proceeding at a steady _pace, Walter H. Wiegand, diredor of physical plant, said recently. Actually, freshmen have arrived just in time , to witness a minor construction boom on campus. Wiegand said that construction will begin on three new buildings before the end of the year: • A $2,500,000 Life Science building, to be located west of Frear Laboratory. Plans call for the building to have seven floors and a floor area of '66,000 square feet. The building will be oc cupied by the Department of Zoology of the College of Agri- Culture and the biophysics group of the College of Chemistry, and Physics. Final plans are expected to be completed during this month, 'and construction should begin; in November. • $900, 000 second unit of the Education-Psychology complex, to be located on the former Beaver :Field. Plans call for the building 'to have five floors. Final plans should be completed by October, and construction is scheduled to begin in December. • A $2,000,000 Conference Cen ter of Continuing Education Serv ices, to be constructed on the' northwest corner of, the .former Beaver Field. The building will include' an assembly room seating 400, 22 meeting rooms, lounges, an exhibit area and various of fices. Plans call for the building to have six floors and a total floor area of 70,000 square feet. Work has already . started on clearing the sites for the addition to the Electrical Engineering, Building as well as the construc tion of the south unit to Recrea tion . Hall.
