Eight Students Receive
Disciplinary Probation
Eight male students were givens
penalties of disciplinary proba-1
tion Thursday for various offenses
by the' Senate Sub-Committee on
Discipline, Daniel R. Leasure, as
sistant to the dean of men, said
yesterday.
When a student is given dis
ciplinary probation an official
notification of the, offense and
penalty is written on his trans
script, a notice of the action is
sent to his parents and his par
ticipation in student activities is
limited, Leasure said.
FOUR FRESHMEN were placed
.on disciplinary probation until
the
_end of the 1962 fail term.
They were apprehended drinking
alcoholic beverages in a residence
hall on the night of March 31.
A counselor discovered and
reported the offense after investi
• gating loud singing heard in one
of the student's rooms.
The only upperclassman, a soph
omore, -who was disciplined .this
week by the sub-committee, was
placed on disciplinary probation
until the end of the fall term
1962 for nine previous offenses.
11 had received a number of
warnings for quiet hours viola
tions; Leasure said, and the sub
committee took action on the case
because of the student's repeated
misbehavior.
Another freshman was placed on
disciplinary probation until the
end of the fall term 1982 •for ,
disorderly conduct. The case was
referred to the University. after
the student was found under a
blanket with a coed in the area of
Sunset Park in State College by
