Michigan, Purdue to . Provide
Rough Test for Lion Thinclads
Penn State's. thinclads will be
chasing two of America's top run
ners.---Ergas Lela of Michigan and
Purdue's- Dave Mills—when the
Lion's travel to Ann Arbor, Mich.,
for a triangular meet tomorrow.
The Lithuanian-born Leps• led
the Michigan team to the Sig Ten
title last year, and also put a
dent in Penn State's chances for
victories in the two and four-mile
relays_ at the Penn Relays last
.April.
Legs is. known for his powerful I
finishing kick which swept himl
past Steve Moorhead in the four-1
mile relay and • Howie Deardorff'
in Ithe two-mile relay to spark
'Wolverine victories in both events
in 'Philadelphia.
MILLS. ON THE other hand;
is not a , strong finisher in his
specialty, the 440, but his great
overall sped' helped him set the
AMerican'_ indoor record of 47.2
for that distance.
In addition •to his record 440
time Mills also holds Boilermaker
records in the 600 (1:10) and the
300 (30.5).
