TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 7. 1961 Letters Foianini On Courage ; Viiiwi TO THE EDITOR; Wnwish to . . extend our congratulations to Mr. Folanini for his straight forwardness and courage in ex pressing a long withheld feel ing concerning student-admini titration relations. It is a relief to finally see .a solid stand takeri by the presi dent of our student body in protecting the interests and democratic rights of the stu dents. In the past there have - been grievancei, expressed by the students; but they have died. no one being willing to call the administration's cards. In his statement Mr. Foianini has not made rash comments, but has backed up his state ment with concrete examples. These charges are serious ones, Frosh Seeks Recess For Easter Celebration TO THE EDITOR: I have just read a most interesting letter in the Collegian. It concerned our Easter holiday (if you can cf.,11 it . that). The author was quite right in saying that we should start now in petitioning for a long er vacation at that time. This would at least give the ad ministration a longer time to think up a better excuse than "there is not sufficient reason for a longer Thanksgiving va cation." If our President feels that there is not enough sentiment about Good Friday, he should go either to the services at Schwab Auditorium or at any of the other churches in town. They are usually. filled to ca pacity, and not all are towns people. Students of this University arise! Something definitely must be done. Appeal to your clergymen back home to look into this matter. Among the many communi. Williams' Remarks Called Irresponsible TO THE EDITORs The un founded and unsupported sweeping generalizations stated by the Chairman of the Elec tions CommisSion concerning the status of political parties, the administration, and major student •organizations was en tirely . unwarranted, irrespon sible, prejudicial, and damag ing• to _student government. It is not the prerogative of the Commission or persons rep resenting it to render state ments which destroy its pur pose—an impartial and non partisan agency to administer the SGA elections. Nor is it proper for members of the Commission to express their personal opinions through it. The prestige and effective ness of the Commission and its membership is seriously under mined by their entering the political arena. —Earl Gershenow '62 WDFM Schedule TUESDAY II:55 Financial Tidbits 4:00 The Philadelphia 5:00 - News 5:05 tactic at Five 6:00 News 6:05 Dinner Date 6:55 Weatherscope - 7:00 CAMPUS BEAT United Nations Report Album Review The Jars Sound News~- • Accent on Sound Dr. Finch Presents Passport Focus -News 20:00 Contemporary Classics 32:00 Sign-off WEDNESDAY 3:55 Financial Tidbits 4:00 The Philadelphia 5:00 News 5:05 ?dusk. at FNo 5:00 News 6:06 Dinner _Date 15:55 _Weatherecope 7:00 CAMPUS BEAT 30:00 Virtuoso Commended not-made to.offend, the admini ittation,-but -to open their eyes to the fact that there is a defi nite lack of communication and understanding bet Ween the stu dents and the administration. Maybe if we begin now. we can stir up enough sentiment to stop a few thousand More stu dents from coming here and thus solving some more of our administrations problems. Look out President Walker! Craftsmanship a little finer, a lot more careful Foianini View On Vacation Hit by Jr. TO THE EDITOR: Mr. Foianini has now stretched the Thanks giving vacation• problem entire ly out of 'proportion. ' How can one compare the idea of Penn State and that of its undermining the concept of the family with that of Red China? I'm only too sure that most parents are proud of their son or daughter in their quest for an education and that they would sooner see them working to get ahead than relaxing to get, nowhere. It is an easy task to fill your self with turkey, but it is an other matter to "fill" yourself with knowledge and under standing. But, I say to all you down hearted-turkey-lovers that if Thanksgiving, with its trim mings and turkey, And the idea of being home with your fam ily, means more to you. than acquiring an education, get out! 'Sentimental' Parents' Day Spoofed by Jr. TO THE EDITOR: Has anyone noticed that the day of the Holy Cross football game is con sidered •by the University to be "Parents' Day?" What will Big Brother say! Imagine whole families together for the day. HoW revolting! How utterly sentimental! We students must unite to see that, this display of ,"2mo tionalism never takes place. Let us take pen in hand and write home immediately. Tell your _parents that the game is sold out; cancelled, Tell them it is no use writing for tickets.
