After Roger Kochman was stopped for no gain, Hall rolled to the 10 and Kochman carried to the four for a first down. At this stage it looked as If State was unstoppable. But with second and three to go for the touchdown. Harry Butsko. a sophomore fullback from Pottsville. Pa., came up with possibly the key play of the game. After sending Hochman into the line for a yard, Hall elected to fake a handoff and bootleg the ball around his right end. Hall carried out the fake well and appeared to have a good angle on the corner of the end zone, but Butsko came charging out of no where like a rampaging hull to knock the Lion signal-caller down on the nine. Hall had Powell open in the end zone on the next play but the little halfback juggled the ball. Powell, some sideline spectators and even a few Maryland players thought that the pass was com plete, but the official ruled other wise. A fourth down pass to Powell fell incomplete on the four. Maryland took over with 1:35 remaining and couldn't move the ball. On fourth down Shiner dropped back to punt but Ter rapin Coach Tommy Nugent had a trick up his sleeve. On State's first play from scrim mage after the kickoff, Hall was hit from behind while trying to pass and Roger Shoals recovered for Maryland. Seven plays later the Terps had another touchdown. This time Shiner hit flanker-bark Tom, Brown from the nine for the TD. Hannigan again booted the point and with 9:50 gone in the first quarter Maryland had a 14-0 lead.
