TUESDAY. OCTOBER 2.1. 1961 IFClPanhei To Name Top Pledges Five sorority pledges and five fraternity pledges have been named as finalists in the Outstanding Pledge contest. The winners, one from each category will be announced at a banquet at 6:30 tonight in Hetzel Union dining rooms A and B. The banquet will be the third event of Greek Week. Nominated as outstanding so rority pledges are Florence Work man, Kappa Delta; Marla Stevens, Delta Delta Delta; Elinor Space, Alpha Omicron Pi; Sandra Tait,' Chi Omega; and Lynn Crawford, Alpha Chi Omega. The winner of this category will be chosen by a committee com posed of Mrs. Richard C. Vander pool,. assistant dean of women; Mrs. R. C. Blaney, senior adviser to the Panhellenic council; Susan Common, first vice president of Panhel; Pamela Chadwick, second vice president; and Helen Gutman, parliamentarian. Nominees for the outstanding fraternity pledge are Richard Tuft, Delta Upsilon; Guy Jack son, Acacia; Mark Schwarz, Beta Sigma Rho; Derald Cum mings, Triangle; and Fred Good, Tau Kappa Epsilon. The winner of that category will be chosen by a committee com posed of Wilmer E. Wise, assist ant to the dean of men; William O'Connel, president of fraternity counsellors; and Richard Pigossi, president of the Interfraternity Council. Criteria for the selection of the outstanding pledge include his activities on campus, in his pledge class, his All-University average and the recommendation he re ceives from the chapter president. Mrs. Stuart Dance, chapter ad viser for Delta Gamma sorority, will speak at the banquet on "Greeks Today." A trophy for the pledge class with the academic highest average for last spring semester will also be awarded at the banquet. Election Post Filled Hershel Richman, junior in arts and letters from Narberth, has been appointed to the SGA Elec tions Commission to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Terrence Schmoyer, senior in electrical engineering from Allen town, Nancy Williams, SGA Elec- 1 tions Commission chairman an nounced yesterday. Miss Williams said Schmoyer gave "conflicting obligations" as the reason for his resignation Friday. Schmoyer said last night that he had resigned from the commis sion because of "health and aca demic reasons."
