OCTOBER 20. 1961 First Downs Give Clearfield 2-1 Victory-lever Lancaster By DENNIS KNECHT Clearfield's Bill McGraw and Lancaster's Mary Kaufmann took turns at firing TD passes last night on the Beaver Sta dium IM fields, hut. when it was all over, Clearfield walked off with a 2-1 victory—on first downs. McGraw and Kaufmann each threw two TI) aerials to knot the score at 12, but Clearfield's slight edge in first downs turned out to be the margin of victory. Mc- Graw's passes each covered 40 yards and were hauled in by Ed Elder• and Neal Biege. Bob Kan napel. and Carl Orman took the scoring passes from Kaufmann. A 10-yard pass from Bill Ram bo to end Joe Gegwich nave Cumberland a 6-2 win over Fay ette. The losers' only score came when Rambo slipped and fell in the end zone for a safety. John Tock's touchdown run with an intercepted pass helped Northumberland defeat Mifflin. 8-0. Tock snagged the intercepted pass at the losers' 40-yard line and raced into the end zone for the score. A safety completed the win nets' scoring.
