TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26. 1961 First Annual Conference Of OSGA Held Here Over 100 student delegates and administrators from all campuses and centers of the University attended the first an nual conference of the Organization of Student Government Associations held on campus August 24-26. Delegates met for workshops, panel discussions and speeches on the general topic of “Leadership.” Workshops centered around the duties of various student leaders and building interest in student activities. The delegates saw dem onstrations of parliamentary pro cedure and learned how to de velop effective workshop sessions. Dr. Robert G. Bernreuter, spe cial assistant to the president for student affairs, spoke on the gen eral topic of leadership in the opening session. Other speakers included Dr. Robert Eiche, director of the Al toona Campus, who discussed “Leadership at the Common wealth Campuses” and Michael R. Lynch, assistant professor of agri culture extension, who presented a study of Penn State in slides. Dr. Emory J. Brown, associate professor of agricultural econom ics and rural sociology, discussed effective workshops. Harold J. O’Brien, assistant to the dean of the College of the Liberal Arts, directed the session on parlia mentary procedure. James H. Coogan, director of public information, spoke on ‘‘Bet tering Public Relations.” A panel of student affairs offi cers discussed the role of the SGA advisor in the Saturday session. Benjamin A. Lane, student af fairs officer from the Behrend Campus, was moderator. Other members of the panel included Dr. Harold W. Perkins, Wyomissing; Frederick M. Ciletti, Pottsville; and Frederick A. Snyder, York. The fall OSGA meeting has been scheduled for Nov. 6-7. Business slated for the meeting will include the presentation of plans for the initiation of the Key stone Society, a freshman-sopho more honorary society, and a con ference evaluation. OSGA was formed in October 1960, and consists of the SGA president and one delegate from each of the University’s 14 cam puses. Iverson to Replace Dennis in Corps Robert Iverson, former assist ant director of the center for continuing education, has resigned from the University in order to assume the post of training di rector of the Peace Corps. Iverson will replace Lawrence. E. Dennis who also resigned from the University to work for the] Peace Corps. Dennis now holds the position of associate director of the Corps. Iverson directed the training of the volun'cers for the Tanganyika Peace Corps project at Texas, Western University in El Paso.j He will now direct Peace Corps training throughout the country.] Dennis’ new position will cover administrative coordination of re cruitment selection and training of volunteers.
