SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23. 1961 WDFM Broadcasts Music, Local Events WDFM, student operated FM radio station, begins its eighth, year of broadcasting this term with programming plans ranging from campus “election specials” to Metropoli tan Opera performances. Most students without FM radios will be able to hear WDFM only from 8 to 10 p.m. when the station broadcasts in conjunction with WMAJ, State College radio. However, the stu dent station has tentative plans for FM broadcasts daily from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. Almost a dozen staffs make up the entire WDFM operation. These range from announcing and news writing to engineer ing, Richard Kellman, chief an nouncer said. New students wishing to worki en WDFM may attend an open! house at 7:30 Wednesday eveningj in 121 Sparks. There are positions ©pen on all of the staffs, Kellman said, but the station is primarily interested in developing a larger news writing staff this term, Kell man said. This year large 'classes such as Physics 235, Math 41, and Chemistry 1, which in ;previous years have scheduled examinations in the evenings, will hold their examinations in the regularity scheduled class period, Miller said.
