PAGE EIGHTEEN ECAC Will Hold Sectional Playoffs On Many Links Nearly 25 college golf teams will be competing Oct. 7 on the Penn State golf course in the qualifying round for the ECAC golf championship. The playoff will be one of four .such qualifying rounds to deter mine sectional champions. The sectional winners will compete in the championship round two weeks later at Bethpage Park in Long Island, N.Y. Hamilton College, Darmouth and Army will be the scene of the other rounds in the second an nual ECAC Tournament. According to Penn State golf coach Joe Boyle, each college will enter a team of four men. Two low teams plus the 10 low men will qualify for the championship playoff. The qualifying round and the championship round will be 18- hole medal play with the golfers scheduled to tee-off at 10 a.m. on-the State course. Boyle said that he is not sure who will enter for Stale, but added that the Lions "should have a real good chance” of being one of the two teams to qualify from this section. "We will be playing on our course and this should be a decided advantage,” he said. Out of the 100 teams which are expected to compete, Boyle singled ou( Navy, Penn, Pittsburgh, Buck nell and Villanova as the leading contenders for the' crown. Navy won the team championship last year. Boyle said that he will hold a qualifying round of his own Sep. 30 to determine who will represent the Lions in the tournament. Bob Swahn, Dave Miller, Jack Mere dith, Dick Gilison, all back from last year’s squad, and sophomores Jim Tabor, Dave Leibau and Rol land Gartners are State's top golfers. “WELCOME NAVY NIGHT” HUB BALL ROOM MUSIC BY THE IVY ROCKS L-I (clap, clap) O-N (clap, clap) L-I (clap, clap) O-N (clrjp, clap) L (clap) I (clap) O (clap) N (clap) Lions, Lions, Lions • • • LOCOMOTIVE S (choo-choo-choo) T (choo-choo-choo) A (choo-choo-choo) T (choo-choo-choo) E (choo-choo-choo) S-T-A-T-E (choo-choo-choo) Fight! • • • .
