PAGE TEN Delta Upsilon Takes IM Championship Delta Upsilon, showing depth and balance in every IM event, cakewalked to its third consecutive IM all point championship. Phi Gamma Delta and Beta Theta Pi both had a shot at over taking DU in IM track but DU came up with a good showing in the running events to run away from the fraternity field. DU had a total of 1,085 points and Phi Gam was second with 855 points. Even though DU's third consecutive championship was essentially a team effort, certain individuals stood out for the men from Locust Lane. Ben Bow and Bob Soininon won titles in boxing and wres- fling respectively. Ed Bahi and Tom Edwards upset Gene Roockey and Gene Flick of TKE to cop the handball doubles crown. On route to the title, DU took the boxing as well as the bad minton doubles crown. Phi Gamma Delta. DU's nearest rival throughout the IM season, look the basketball crown by de feating DU in the final. The Un touchables took the independent basketball championship for the third straight year led by foot ballers Dick Hoak and Frank Sincek. Gene Flick of TKE and Bob Engineers won the bowling titles Gross of Phi Ep Pi. again proved :to round out the IM cavalcade of champions of their respective sports. Flick captured the IM fraternity handball singles crown for the second year and Gross took his third badminton title in convincing fashion. In independent play, Bruce Blanning won the handball chain- :pienship ; and Al Stoddart copped the badminton trophy. In the rest of the spring sports, Omega Psi Phi won its secondi straight track title, edging DUI and Bucks House ran away with; the independent track crown led by footballers Steve Popp, Don, CaLIM, Junior Powell, and Frank' liersney, Lambda Chi Alpha won the golf; title by defeating Beta Sigma Rho and Hickory House won the inde-' pendent crown, beating West moreland 3-2 in the final. Sigma Pi copped the frater nity soccer title and the Hum mers won the independent crown. Lou Merlotti and Dave Irons of Chi Phi won the fra ternity championship, of the only sport where being close counts—horseshoes. In independent action Charles Snell and Ed Kabala won the : horseshoes crown. Dick Weissfeld and Steve Klein of Beta Sigma, Rho won the tennis doubles while; Steve Seyboit and Charles Stulll won the independent crown.
