PAGE EIGHT Students Get Honor Awards At Ceremony Sixteen seniors were awarded Charles Evans Pugh gold medals ut the annual Honors Day Cere monies yesterday in the Mineral Industries Auditorium. The seniois represented the top 0.5 per cent of the 1061 graduating class. Students who have excelled in all areas of academic life were honored at the ceremonies spon sored by the Honor Society Coun cil. Eighteen juniors were presented with silver Charles Evans Pugh medals as the top 0.5 per cent of their class. In the absence of President Eric A. Walker, Howard A. Cutler, assistant to the president for aca demic affairs, presented the Presi dent’s Book Award. Tire award, a leather-bound Webster diction ary, was presented to freshmen who earned a 4.00 average their first semester. Awards were also presented to outstanding seniors in mathe matics, biological sciences and chemistry. Mortar Board Scholars, Phi Kappa Phi awards and the winner of the Alpha Lambda Delta Book Award were also an nounced at the program.
