MAY 18. 1961 Lion Golfers Beat Bisons For 6th Win By DAVE LEONARD The Penn State golf team assured itself of no worse than a .500 season by squeez ing out a 4-3 victory over Bucknell for its sixth win against four losses on the Uni versity course yesterday. As in many cases this year, it took an extra-hole match to de cide the outcome of the meet. The score was tied at three wins apiece going into the final match between State's Dave Miller and Pete Sang. Miller was two up after 16 holes but Sang won the 17 th when Miller missed a 3-foot putt. Then •; f|| he evened the match on the last hole when Miller blew a foot and a half putt. Sang couldn't stand prosperity, however. He dubbed his drive aWIWiWwHM on the extra hole and Miller won the match with a par. Lion captain John Morton dropped a 5 and 4 decision to Bob Etzweiler. Tom Balling won an easy 4 and 3 victory over Bucknell's Curt Mull. Balling shared medalist honors with Bob Rutherford, each firing 3 over par 725. Rich Gilison and Jack Mere dith both scored easy wins, Gili son beat Jerry Singer 6 and 4 while Meredith downed A 1 Pat 'rson 5 and 4.
