Scholastic
Disciplinary
Cases Drop
Although enrollment has in
creased during the past year,
the number of scholastic dis
ciplinary actions taken by the
University in that time has
declined, according to a report
issued by the registrar’s office.
There were 15,353 undergradu
ates enrolled last semester; 4,567
or 29.75 per cent were dropped,
placed (in probation, or given
warnings for scholastic deficien
cy. A year ago 33.66 per cent of
the 14,216 students faced similar
action.
A total of 133 students or .87
per cent have been dropped
from the University, the regis
trar's office reported.
The College of Business Admin
istration dropped the highest
number of students 32. Engin
eering and Architecture dropped
31, and Liberal Arts dismissed 30.
Percentage-wise, Business Ad-;
ministration dropped 1.8 per cent,!
Liberal Arts 1.27 per cent and'
Chemistry and Physics .79 per;
cent of their respective enroll-1
ments.
Of the 1,086 students enrolled in
the Division of Counseling, 58.37
per cent were dropped, given
warnings or put on academic pro
bation.
Scholastic disciplinary action
was taken against 43.34 per cent
of the freshmen men and 30 per
cent of the freshmen women.
Almost 36 per cent of the sopho
mores faced disciplinary action
for poor scholarship as did 25.79
per cent of the juniors and 14.67
per cent of the seniors.
Only 19 students, 14 of them
first semester freshmen, had per
fect 4.0 All-University averages
at tlie end of the fall semester.
Two fifth semester students, two
third semester students, and one
second semester freshman had 4.0
All-University averages.
A total of 74 per cent of the stu
dents enrolled had All-University
averages above 2.0 and 84 per
cent had averages above 1.8.
