SATURDAY. MAY 6. 1961 Werner Revises Lineup For Spartans, Buckeyes There's a slight twist in Penn State's lineup for the Michigan State - Ohio State triangular meet at East Lan sing, Mich., today, Fred Larson and Dave LaHoff, two distance runners who have seen only limited action this year, will get a chance to pick up some points against the Spartans and Buckeyes. Larson is slated to run the mile along with Steve Moorhead while LaHoff will run the 880 and mile relay. Both Big. 10 schools are suffer ing through mediocre campaigns this year while Werner•'s' teams (including cross-country, indoor and outdoor competition) have won 13 straight dual meets dating back to last year's loss to Quan tico outdoors, Werner isn't known for running up scores against opponents, which account for the presence of Larson and LaHoff in the lineup. Werner will use Ron Beard and Dale Peters in the pole vault. Chief competition in this event should come from Bill Alcorn, Michigan State sopho more who did 13-8 indoors this year. Bill Simon is the only entry in the shot put with Dick Campbell, Jerry Wettstone and Barry Amis scheduled for the high jump. Bob Grantham (broad jump) and Jon Musser and George Ba kale (discus) round out State's entries in the field events. Jim Schwab will throw the javelin if either the Spartans or Buck eyes enter competition in this event. Ohio State's top competitor, Co-captain Larry Schmalenber berger, is a threat to win the dis cus and Michigan State's Sonny Akpata is favored in the broad jump. Spartan Zach Ford should fur nish Bob Brown and Tony Wayne with some competition in the 100- yard dash. Ford was clocked in 9.8 at the Drake Relays. Grantham and Campbell are entered in the 120 high hurdles. In addition to LaHoff, Moor- Frosh Baseballers Whip Behrend, 21-0 Penn State's freshman baseball team boosted its record to 2-0 with a 21-0 romp over Behrend Center yesterday afternoon on Beaver Field. The Lion cubs pounded out 14 hits in the seven inning contest, scoring in every frame but the third. Third sacker Grier Werner sparked the Nittany attack with three hits in three trips and four RBI. Ralph Wert chipped in with two for two and four RBI. Pitchers Lou Schrecker, Jim Felton and Dick Noe surrendered only one hit. Schrecker worked the first three frames to get credit for the win. 1...V<Mm.0M0410....4.•••tre.a....0t0miwaiD 44410 . 4 Cheer Up FRANK the CRANK I I have a PIZZA PARTY 1 Senior Ball Wkd.
