Court Orders Soph
To Pay for Repairs
A student who admitted breaking the windows of a State
College church has been ordered to pay for the damages by
the Centre County court.
William T. Masyn, sophomore in division of counseling
from Mount Holly, N.J., was tried in the county court house
in Bellefonte by Judge Paul R.
Campbell. Masyn was ordered to
pay all costs of repairing the win
dows which , he admitted breaking
with a sling shot.
The repairs which were recent
ly completed came to a total ex
pense of $724. In addition, Masyn
was ordered to pay all court costs.
George K. Beebe and Richard
J. Kolb, both freshmen in liber
al arts from Point Pleasant,
were also brought before Judge
Campbell, tried and sentenced.
They were committed to jail for
a period of one to twelve months
on charges of burglary. The two
admitted taking $235 from the
Temple Laundromat on W, Beaver
Ave. April 21. The judge ordered
the defendants each to make
restitution of $117.50 and to pay
the expenses incurred by the own
er of the business in changing the
locks on change machines and
washers.
In testimony presented to the
court it was established that Carl
E. Temple, the owner made the
changes before the youths were
apprehended because 17 keys had
been stolen. They were also or
dered to pay court costs.
Two students have been brought
before Justice of the Peace Wil
liam P. Bell in State College on
charges of disorderly conduct.

Hospitality Group
For Internationals
To Meet Tonight
The Provisional Community
Hospitality Committee for Inter
national Visitors will meet at 7:30
tonight, in the Westminster Hall
of the Presbyterian Church.
This group has been studying
ways in which the citizens of
State College and student organ
izations of the University can pro
vide hospitality for international
students.
A representative of the SGA
Committee for the Orientation of
Foreign Students, Joyce White
head, will attend the meeting.
She said that the committee hopes
that all interested students will
also attend.
Dr. Roy D. Anthony, State Col
lege burgess, and Dr. W. H. Gray,
director of the international stu
dent affairs, are scheduled to
speak before the meeting. Both
speakers are representatives of
the Provisional Committee.
The Provisional Community
Hospitality Committee was
formed in October 1960 by a small
group of interested State College
residents headed by Anthony. The
committee duties have been de
signed to make a study of the
hospitality and service carried on
within State College and the Uni
versity for international students
studying on campus.

Potion Organizes
Jazz Association
The Society of Jazz Clubs, was
officiallyestablished on campus re
cently according to Alan Pollon,
president of the Penn State Jazz
Club.
James DePriest, Philadelphia
director of the Contemporary Mu
sic Guild, and Phil Brooks, presi
dent of Jazz Horizons Unlimited,
of Pittsburgh, met with Pollon on
campus to organize the society.
SOJAC provides for an ex
change of ideas on various phases
of jazz group organizations, such
as the promotion of concerts and
the organization of jazz work
shops. It is a service organization
that will be used- at present pri
marily for informational purposes.
The society which will operate
on a national basis, hopes to act
as a coordination device in help
ing to start new clubs in many
universities and cities.

Pivot Dedicated to Prof
The 1961 edition' of "Pivot," on
sale yesterday, the student poetry
magazine has been dedicated to
the late Walter E. Boyer, instruc
tor in English composition before
his death on May 6, 1960.
Mr. Boyer was a frequent con
tributor to "Pivot" and one of his
poems, "Along the Mahantongo"
appears in this year's edition.
