Onl Miss PSU Entries Due April 19 On Mar 2 a new Miss Penn State will be crowned at Awards Night, the grand fin ale of Spring Week. Any coed who is at least fifth semester and has a 2.2 all-Univer sity average is eligible for the title. Applications have been sent, to all groups participating in Spring Week, Sue Ellen Block, chairman of the contest, said! Wednesday. If, however, a coed is not a' member of a group taking part in] Spring Week, she may still enter, the contest, Miss Block said. Applications and a 5 x 7 inch portrait must be submitted to the HUB desk by 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. The pictures will be re-, turned 'after the contest, Miss Block said. All applicants will be inter viewed by six judges in the preliminaries on Monday and Tuesday, April 24 and 25. The girls will be judged on poise, speech, carriage, personality. attractiveness, grooming and scholarship. Five finalists will be selected. They will attend a banquet on Tuesday afternoon, May 2, with the six finalist judges. In the evening, at Awards Night, they will be interviewed again and the final decision will be announced. The new Miss Penn State will be crowned by Constance Adler, who presently holds the title. The dis plays of all the colleges partici pating will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow. The Open House programs have been arranged for high school students all over the state but are open to all University stu -1 dents who are thinking of chang-, ing curriculums within the science: field, according to Eugene Gru-: mer, president of the Mineral' Industries Student Council. The programs will consist of exhibits. demonstrations, lec tures and movies, Grumer said. In addition. faculty members will be available to consult with students, Grumer said. A display on cell culture will be the feature of the College of Agriculture's program. The dis play comes from a study conduct ed by Richard L. McCarl, instruc tor in agricultural and biological chemistry. Ten other departments of the college will have displays. A lecture on criminology by Dr. Mary L. Willard, professor of chemistry, and a lecture on phys ics by Fred Tracy, assistant pro fessor of physics, will highlight the program arranged by the Col lege of Chemistry' and Physics. Information concerning the three Open House programs will be available tomorrow at an in formation booth in the Hetzel Union Building.
