STATE COLLEGE PENNSYLVANIA Increase in 'Overloads' Possible Under 4-Terms The problem of increased credit loads created by the four-term plan is one of “hidden overloads’’ not apparent in' curriculum plans, according to John J. Schanz, chairman of the Senate committee on Educational Policy. Schanz explained that on the basis of the number of credits per term r.nd the total number of credits necessary for graduation in each curriculum, every precaution has been taken to avoid excessive credit loads for the individual student However, he said, in juggling credits around to fit the term system, some curricula may find students carrying overloads in certain terms, whereas in the stu dent’s total number of required credits for graduation, the over loads will not be apparent. The tendency toward in creased credit loads for indivi dual students under the term plan was mentioned Thursday at a University Senate meeting, by Lawrence E. Dennis, vice president of academic affairs. According to Dennis, President Eric A. Walker said that the ten dency toward excessive credit loads is not in keeping with the University’s objectives. In its study of the problem, the Educational Policy Committee will not necessarily recommend fixed credit limits, Schanz said. “We will just look into the situ ation," he said. In discussing possible areas for study, Schanz pointed out that under the present system, a stu dent’s academic advisor decides Angel Flight Applications Applications for Angel Flight are available at the Hetzel Union desk.
